Scholarships
Central High School PTO Scholarship Guidelines
Committee Members: Central High SchoolP.T.O. Board Members, Corporate Contributors, and
Central Community Leaders (including but not limited to Business, Political and/or Religious leaders).
Value: One time award of $500.00 per student.
Requirements: Parents must be members of Central High School PTO. Students must show community involvement (Central Community involvement preferred), including but not limited to extra curricular activities such as school clubs, church involvement or any other club or organization membership. This information should be submitted along with documentation of service hours, and any accommodations or awards received.
Applications should be typed or written neatly in black ink, remember this is the first impression you will have on the committee.
Students should be responsible, courteous, honest and active in the Central Community.
Students must graduate with a minimum cumulative 3.00 grade point average and 23 ACT Score, and must not have had any disciplinary action taken against them in the 2011-2012 school year. NOTE: If ACT score is less than 23, GPA Must be a 3.5 or higher to still qualify.
(Involuntary removal from organizations or suspensions)
Deadline: Application and only two letters of recommendation must be postmarked before February 28, 2012.

Application Review: All applications that meet the requirements will be reviewed by the committee, which will have only the students’ social security number visible to ensure the integrity of the selection. Only after the selections of the finalists have been made will the identity of each student will
be made known to the committee and an interview is scheduled if necessary.
Interview: The committee members will interview the selected finalists after Spring Break. The students will then be notified and an interview scheduled through the Central High School Guidance Department. (only if necessary).
Agreement: The recipients that are chosen will agree (in writing) to enroll in a post-secondary institution by September 1, 2012. If the recipient wishes to delay enrollment in school, he/she must submit a written request before September 1, 2012 to the scholarship committee. The committee has the power to grant or refuse the extension.
Disbursement: In order to receive the $ 500.00 award, the recipient must present an enrollment Fee Bill from the post-secondary institution in which they have enrolled to;

Central High School P.T.O. will then write the check to the recipient. Please allow 5 to 7 working days after deadline to receive the check.
