Mr. Ciempola, Mrs. Uhler, and Mrs. Mooney will discuss the work they have been doing with students regarding empathy and behavior including reporting on progress. Following this discussion and update, we have a guest speaker Susan Visser from Community in Crisis. Susan will provide practical strategies parents can use to help their students manage their emotions and behaviors when they are away from home.

If you are interested in giving gifts to any teacher or staff member at CHS beyond your child's homeroom teacher, please consider donating to the CHS PTO Staff Holiday Gift Collection. Every dollar collected through this fund will go towards the purchase of a substantial holiday gift for instructional aides, specials teachers (PE/Art/Music/Quest/Spanish), and all other CHS staff members that make our school such a wonderful place. The PTO will give these gifts the week of December 19th on behalf of all CHS families.

The staff and students at Cedar Hill School would like to help needy children in the tri-state area with “Holidays for Children”. As part of this effort each class will sponsor a child supplied to us by a local organization that serves as a clearinghouse for various social service agencies.

Each class will be provided with a written profile of a child and his/her holiday wish list which includes something they want, something they need, and something educational. We encourage each student to bring in a voluntary donation of his or her own money. This could be money saved in a piggy bank, earned by doing some extra chores around the house, or earned by doing a special job for family and friends. No donation is too small; we wish to offer Cedar Hill children the opportunity to help someone using their own funds.

Once all donations are collected, each class will work together with a parent volunteer from the class to purchase the items on the shopping list. Each child who is sponsored will get a specific amount of money towards his/her wish list. If a class collects more than this predetermined amount, our generous Cedar Hill Community will be able to make the holiday even brighter and sponsor additional children!

Please send your child’s donation to school in an envelope marked “Holidays for Children” between Monday, October 31st and Monday, November 14th.
